SAAM Hunabku to become Guatemala’s first IMO Tier III tugboat

SAAM Towage will soon add the SAAM Hunabku to its fleet, marking the company’s 16th vessel delivered by Sanmar Shipyards and the first IMO Tier III certified tugboat to operate in Guatemala. The vessel will be based at Puerto Quetzal as part of SAAM Towage’s fleet renewal programme in the Americas. IMO Tier III classification certifies compliance with the highest international standards for nitrogen oxide emissions control, enabling more environmentally friendly port operations. The SAAM Hunabku is a Boğaçay class vessel based on Robert Allan’s RAmparts 2400SX-MKII design, measuring 24. 4 metres in length with a beam of 12 metres.
