A 24-hour warning strike is underway at six German seaports , with operational disruptions expected during the industrial action. According to Hapag-Lloyd, the strike was called by German trade union ver. di and began on the evening of 17 August 2026 . Six German ports affected The warning strike affects the ports of Hamburg, Bremerhaven, Bremen, Wilhelmshaven, Emden and Brake . Hapag-Lloyd said disruptions are expected at the affected ports during the strike period.

Port of Tyne advances recovery after July vessel collision

The Port of Tyne is continuing recovery operations following the vessel collision on 19 July , while maintaining cargo and shipping activities. The port is working with specialist contractors, environmental response teams, government agencies, customers and shipping lines. Recovery work includes damaged containers, terminal equipment and plastic pellets released into the environment. BG Orange leaves for repairs On 12 August, BG Orange sailed to Tees to discharge cargo before undergoing repairs. Its departure followed that of Wind Orca , which left the Port of Tyne on 4 August.
