ClassNK joins AI voyage optimisation project with Evergreen and Samsung Heavy Industries

ClassNK has joined a project with Evergreen Marine, Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) and Weathernews to assess the fuel and emissions savings of AI-based voyage optimisation . The project will use an Evergreen-operated commercial vessel to test the technology under real operating conditions. The four companies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish the framework for the project. AI technology to be tested on Evergreen vessel The project will use the Samsung Autonomous Ship (SAS) system developed by Samsung Heavy Industries. SAS will provide speed optimisation and real-time vessel control.

Every experienced driver has a story about it, or knows someone who does. A truck follows a navigation app built for cars, and the app cheerfully routes it toward a bridge it cannot clear, a road it is too heavy for, or a turn it physically cannot make. The low-bridge strike is one of the oldest and most avoidable disasters in trucking, and it happens in large part because the mapping tools most people use were never built for a truck. Google is now stepping directly into that gap. In a blog post published August 17, 2026 by Google Maps Platform product manager Mohit Moondra, the company announced the general availability of Large Vehicle Routing, described as a version of its routing technology built specifically for the needs of large commercial vehicles like trucks and buses.

CyberLogitec wins TOS contract for Incheon’s first fully automated terminal

CyberLogitec has secured a contract to supply its Terminal Operating System (TOS) for the Phase 1-2 automated container terminal at Incheon New Port in South Korea. The company signed the agreement with Incheon Global Container Terminal (IGCT), which will operate the new facility. Targeted for commercial opening in 2028 , the project will create the first fully automated container terminal at Incheon Port. OPUS Terminal to manage automated operations CyberLogitec will deploy its OPUS Terminal software as the integrated digital platform for the facility. The TOS will manage berth, vessel, yard and gate operations through a single system.
