APM Terminals Elizabeth orders RTG cranes from Konecranes

APM Terminals Elizabeth has signed an agreement with Konecranes for 34 fully electric Rubber-Tired Gantry cranes, with an option for six additional units, as part of a broader modernisation programme at one of North America’s busiest container terminals. The order was booked in the second quarter of 2026, with deliveries to be completed by the end of 2028. The E-RTGs are fully powered by onboard battery packs and will be deployed across the terminal yard to strengthen yard capacity, improve operational reliability and support more efficient, electrified terminal operations. The investment prepares APM Terminals Elizabeth for future growth while advancing its decarbonisation objectives through proven electrified crane technology. Henrik Kristensen, Managing Director of APM Terminals Elizabeth, described the investment as focused on solutions that support efficient container flows, reliable day-to-day operations and the flexibility to meet future demand, highlighting benefits for operating safety and skill development alongside long-term customer service capability.
